This really is my first theory published here (please be kind!) but I've been skulking in the shadows for a few time!

I recently did a personality test - it's a concept I'm sure your acquainted with (though it particularly seems more commonly utilized in the USA in contrast to the UK) centered on Jung's concept of personality types and how our psychological choices specifically relate to how we view the entire world and make choices.

My theory is that that there are some personality types which are more likely to be / become Dominant or submissive. I actually do not know of any studies in to this (yet) but would be interested if this has been considered before to understand.

My personality kind came back as INFP and on reading about any of it these made me smile:

"INPF's work hard at constantly seeing their mates through to that stand. The regular INFP effect is just a highly affirming, proud and loving attitude towards their mates (...) with their tendency to enjoy serving others they might value their mates satisfaction above their own."

Nevertheless, I suspect you will find two explanations why this is not so:

1. Energy change can be quite a "workaround" for personality type.

Probably some INFPs enjoy taking a break from this constant have to nurture and affirm. Would not it be good to really have a lover you can only use...?

2. Power trade is the context for expression of personality

Envision a a slave owner who was simply INFP. The tradition would establish that they were in charge, so how would they react? Probably attempted to build their personal slave in to the best possible slave, one they could be proud of. And there will be treats... the servant, for example, may be allowed to orally assist the owner.
