CH.20- Nothing lasts forever.

Two hours later...
Liliana had finally managed to go back to sleep again. When Criss saw that she had knocked out, he let go of her wrists and Sully did the same thing with her legs. They both walked out of the room quietly so they wouldn't wake up Liliana. When they reached the living room Sully suddenly exclaimed,
" WOW! what was that??"

Criss sighed " I don't know" he said as he sat down on a chair and rubbed his forehead. " Dude shes crazy" Sully exclaimed. " Hey watch it! that's my girl your talking about" Criss said in an angry voice while he stood up from the chair. Sully was shocked to see how Criss had reacted. " I'm sorry man! I didn't mean to say that..I'm just stressed." Sully commented while he grabbed one of the chairs and sat down in front of Criss. " And how do you think I am?" Criss asked in a sarcastic tone.

"I'm scared that she will have this kind of reaction again" Criss said while he looked up the stairs. " I'm sorry to say this, but shes not ready to do the job, not in those conditions" Criss continued. Sully just listened to him. Suddenly Criss got quiet and sully too.
Sully then broke the silence and said, " Well we have to do the job no later than tomorrow no excuses" Criss looked at him" what about lily? she won't handle the pressure in those conditions" Sully got quiet. "Well I guess we're gonna have to tie her up, while we do the job" Sully remarked. " Are you stupid! I'm not gonna tie her up like shes some kind of savage animal" Criss exclaimed in discontent.

Sully looked down at the floor " you know what I think you're gonna have to go and do the job alone. while you do the job I'll stay here and look out for Liliana" Sully said. Criss looked surprised to what he was hearing. " what? are you serious? But you hate Liliana" Criss said to Sully. " Well we had our disagreements and all that but I don't hate her" Sully commented while he gave Criss a smirk.

The next day Criss was down in the basement getting himself ready for some action. All his weapons rested on top of the table. Sully was helping him get ready too. When he was ready, he walked towards the mirror and took at look at himself and whispered, " are you ready? he then quickly replied to his question with a, " Of course I'm ready" and put on his black leather jacket and his fedora hat.

Liliana was sitting on her bed when she heard someone coming through the hallway. " Hey" Criss said standing by the door. Liliana turned around and stared at him. " I'm heading to the bank" Criss said to her. But Liliana didn't said anything back. Criss looked down and sighed. " This whole nightmare is gonna end soon baby. I'll be home in a few hours" Criss said as he closed the door and headed down stairs.
" are you ready?" Sully said while he stood by the entrance of the house. " Take good care of her Sully" Criss told him. " Don't worry man. I will." Sully exclaimed. Criss gave Sully a hugged. Sully then said, " Don't come home too late" Criss smiled and said " I'll be back for dinner honey" and departed to his destination.

CH. 21 The truth behind the blue eyes

When Criss left, Sully went into the Kitchen and prepared something to eat so he could take it to Liliana. When he got upstairs, he saw Liliana sitting on the bed looking directly to the window. He knocked at the door to let her know that he was there. Liliana turned around and saw him but didn't say anything.
" I brought you something to eat" Sully said while he put the plate down on a nearby table.
"I'm not hungry" Liliana remarked without looking at Sully. " You have to eat!" Sully told her. But Liliana didn't respond and just kept looking at the window. Sully carefully sat on the bed and sighed but he didn't say anything else.
" Honestly Liliana....are you happy with...Criss?" Sully finally said breaking the silence between them. Liliana looked at him and raised her eyebrows as a sign of confusion. " Why do you ask that?" Liliana finally said.
Sully kept looking at her, " Well, you don't look happy. I'm gonna be honest with you...I've known Criss for years, he doesn't deserve you" Sully told her without taking his eyes away from her. Liliana became more confused, she didn't understand why Sully was telling her that stuff.
" Lily, you deserve to be with someone who willing to protect you and not put you in danger". Sully said. Liliana just kept looking at him confused. Sully then got up and made his way to the other side of the bed where Liliana was sitting down. " you know...you're really beautiful" Sully said while he tried to touch Liliana's face. But Liliana put her head back at the moment she saw that Sully wanted to touch her. She then began to feel uneasy. " Lily, lily!" Sully said while he sighed. He glanced at Liliana from head to toe and said, " I have to say that Criss is one lucky man for having you..." Liliana began to get scared and was about to say something when suddenly Sully put his hand over Liliana's mouth and whispered to her ear, " I want YOU Liliana" Liliana's eyes widened. She quickly got up and made a run for it. But Sully was faster and stopped her. She tried to get away from him but he was grabbing her with such a strong grip the she couldn't get away.

CH.22 NOT COMING HOME

Suddenly Liliana managed to get away from Sully by kicking him between his legs. Sully screamed out of pain and Liliana run down the stairs. Sully quickly recovered from the kick and got up on his feet again. He ran toward the stairs but trip with one of the wooden beams that was sticking out of the floor. " Liliana let me explain" Sully shouted as he run down the stairs. Liliana got out of the house and just run without looking back. Sully was chasing her and still yelling her name. But Liliana run and run. She run until she came across the bank that Criss was suppose to rob. She was standing there in front of the big white building, looking around. " Liliana" Sully shouted as he run towards her from a distance.

" BOOOOOM" a big sound came from the bank. The explosion made Liliana drop to the floor. She opened her eyes and saw that everything was covered with smoke. She started to see people coming out from the bank. There was a total chaos, people were screaming, others were crying, and others were injured. Everyone was running around and trying to get away. Liliana looked around, but she couldn't really see clearly due to the amount of smoke that the explosion had made. She then saw a shadow coming towards her. She tried to see who it was but it still wasn't really visible. " Liliana!!??" Criss said when he saw Liliana standing there. He had a few cuts in his arms and a cut on his head but it wasn't that drastic, he was carrying a black bag that was filled with money. " Lily what are yo doing here?" Criss asked concerned. When Liliana was about to speak. the sounds of police car sirens surrounded them. Two cops rushed towards Criss and threw him on the ground and handcuffed him
.
When Sully saw this, he scream and started running towards him. A police officer shouted to Sully, " DO NOT MOVE!" as he pointed his gun at him. But Sully didn't listened and kept running. All of the sudden the cop fired up at Sully making him hit the ground.
"NOOOOOOOOOO!" Criss screamed as he witnessed his cousin being shot.
Liliana stood on her ground without moving a muscle, then someone came from behind and tap her shoulder.
" Miss, you better leave this place. its dangerous' a police said to Liliana. Liliana was shocked, she wasn't expecting that. The cop was called through his radio and once again said to Liliana, " Miss, please evacuate this place immediately" and the cop left.

Liliana then saw that some Paramedics were already attending Sully and where putting him inside the ambulance. She then turned around and saw that Criss was being put inside in one of the police cars.
Tears began to stroll down her face. She was all alone now. She witnessed in just a matter of minutes how her whole world came crashing down to the floor. Now, there was an injured man or even a dead man, and on the other hand she saw with her own eyes as the Love if her life was taken away by the police.

Ch. 23 IS NOT OVER YET
Liliana run back to the house while tears streamed down her face. She was scared, desperate, angry, sad, over all she was having all this mix emotions. When she got inside, she stopped in the living room and looked around. She noticed something different...there was complete silence. Criss was no longer there and neither was Sully, she still couldn't believe what had just happened.
"I have to get out of here" she said to herself as she made her way upstairs. She got to her room and took out a luggage, and started to pack up her belongings. She reached for a book that was on top of a little table, and when she grabbed it, something felt on the floor. She bend down to pick it up, it was a picture. A picture of her and Criss that they had taken when they were back in Switzerland. She started to cry and tears fell onto the picture.
"Oh my god, Criss! I miss you. why did everything had to end like this? why?" she said while she looked at the picture. Suddenly she heard a sound coming from down stairs. She quickly managed to get under the bed and hide. She heard footsteps walking up the stairs. The door was slowly opened and she saw two people coming in, a man and a woman.
" I think she's gone" the man said.
" Hmmm, where could she have gone?" the woman replied as she walked around the room. Liliana listen to them carefully without trying to make a sound. Those voices seem familiar, but from where had she heard those voices before? where?
" We better go!" the man said. the woman agreed and both headed downstairs. When Liliana heard the entrance door being shut she quickly got out from under the bed grabbed her suit case, and headed out. But when she reached the end of the stairs. She heard that the man was coming inside the hose again.
"We forgot to look in one place" the man said as he reached the door to open it. Liliana rapidly managed to go down to the basement and hide out right there.
" what place?" the woman said as he followed the man from behind.
" The basement" he said. And both headed down to check out the basement.

Liliana hid under the stairs of the basement. She stood there quietly as she saw the man and the woman coming down. The man then tried to turn on the light, but the light wasn't working. He then took out his flashlight and began to look around.

" there's nothing here" the woman said.
"yeah you're right" the man replied. Then woman then told the man that she would go back to the car and wait for him there. The man gave up looking and decided to head out. He was walking up the stairs when suddenly something caught his eye that was coming from under the stairs. He came down again and tried to turn on his flashlight but failed to turn it on. He tapped on it to make the light go on, and when he raised the flashlight to see. Liliana hit the man on the face with a pan. The man felt on the floor and screamed. Liliana run up the stairs, she was heading to the entrance door, but heard that the woman was coming. She then headed to the kitchen and saw the window. She opened it and jump out and landed on the backyard. She quickly but steadily run and jumped the fence, she began to run again and turn around in a street corner and stumbled into a man making him drop his fedora hat.

" I'm sorry" Liliana said picking it up and giving it back to the man.
" That's fine" the man said while he wiped the dust out of his hat.
" yeah, I have to run, Sorry!" Liliana said.
" What's the hurry Ms. Ponce?" the man asked. Liliana froze and turned around to see the man.
" How do you that's my last name?" Liliana asked in scared tone. " Ahh Liliana you offend me. The point here is that I know who you are" The man said while he grabbed Liliana by her arm. Liliana tried to let go and run again. But the man was to strong for her.

"Who are you?" Liliana asked the man. The man kept quiet, and all of the sudden the the man and the woman that where inside the house came out from the dark and now Liliana could see their faces.
" Officer Adam Palmer?!" Liliana exclaimed in surprise. " Ahh, you remember me" Adam said with a smirk.
" You found here chief" the woman said to the man that was grabbing Liliana as she put her gun away and took out a pair of handcuffs.
" Holly" Liliana said as she saw the face of the woman.
" Officer Madison to you! Liliana Ponce de Leon, you're under arrest!" Holly said as she handcuffed Liliana.

CH. 24 Surprise, surprise!
Two hours later...
Liliana was sitting alone in the interrogation room. She began to look at the walls, and turned around and saw the mirror. She knew that she was being watched from behind that mirror. She stood up and walked towards the mirror and stared at it for a long time. She then began to bang her fist at it.

" I know you're looking at me! I'm not stupid!" she shouted. She then got back to her seat. Suddenly the door opened.
" Of course, you're not stupid" The chief said while he made his way inside the room and grabbed a chair so he could seat down.
Liliana just stared at him. " You haven't introduced yourself Sir" Liliana said to the Chief while she gave him an evil look.
" Oh yes! you're right! You were to busy running away that I didn't had the time to introduce myself" the Chief said mockingly.
" I'm Chief Robert Lombardi from the Interpol and I'm the one responsible for following the case of the "Phantom Robbers" He said as he looked at Liliana.

" Liliana, you're a smart girl" the chief said.
" I don't know what you want from me, and I don't know what you're talking about" Liliana responded.
The chief laughed, "Oh please Liliana, are you going to tell me now that you don't know Criss?" he said.
"Look my husb...Criss is not doing this just for the fun of it" Liliana said trying not to cry.
" Ahhh, your husband!" the chief said while he raised his eyebrows. Liliana's eyes widen.
" Look Liliana he is not the only one to blame, you are his partner in crime. You know that you can get many years in jail. Moreover you can even get death row" the chief proclaimed, as he stood up from his seat and walked back and forth.

Liliana started to get more scared, now more than ever, she knew that her whole world had crashed down to the floor. The chief then called Holly to bring him a file.
" You know what this is Liliana?" the chief said while he raised the file on the air. Liliana looked at it and said, " uhh I..I dont know"
" This is the file that contains all the records of the phantom robbers" the chief said as he put the file down on the table.
"Take a look" the chief said to Liliana. Liliana was scared, she didn't wanted to open that file and see all the criminal records that she and Criss had committed. But she finally had the gut to grab the file and began to read it.

She flipped the pages back and forth with a confused look on her face.
"Find anything interesting?" The chief said to Liliana while he gave her a serious look.
Liliana looked more confused and still continued to skim through the file. She then raised her head to look at the Chief and said,
" I'm not here!...Only Criss is mentioned"

CH.25 Choose Wisely

The chief looked at Liliana at sat down again while Detective Palmer enter the room and made his way where Holly was standing.
" Exactly my dear, you are not mentioned in the record" The chief said. Liliana couldn't understand why there was no record of her.
"Look, why are you worrying?" detective Palmer said to Liliana while he looked at her.
"Well, was there to lose, you all know that I'm guilty too so I can't get out of this one" Liliana said while she gave them a serious look.
"We wont incriminate you" the chief said. Liliana was thrown back to what she just heard. " what?" Liliana said rather confused.
"We wont convict you, if you do something for us" the chief said to Liliana while he got up. In that moment Detective Palmer and Holly got out of the room living the chief and Liliana alone.
" whatever you want I wont do it" Liliana said in a firm voice.
"Ahhh Ms. Ponce or should I say Mrs. Sarantakos? I know you don't want to be locked up for the rest of you life or am I wrong?" the chief asked.
"Of course not, what do you want" Liliana said in an angry tone. The chief looked at her and then began to look at the file of the Phantom robbers again. he then said,
"It's simple, you know that Criss has committed many robberies and has cause a lot of economic loses through out Europe, and also he has killed many innocent lives" Liliana just kept looking at him while she kept listening.
"what the you want?" Liliana screamed.
The chief didn't seem upset for Liliana's attitude towards him, he kept calm and said,
"I want you to testified in court against Criss Angel!"

CH.26 Won't go home without you

Liliana couldn't believe what she was hearing.
"What???" she screamed while she got up from her seat. "I..I can't do that" Liliana said and then got quiet.
"Look, so you can see that I'm a nice person. I'll give you an hour to think about it" The chief said while he started to make his way to the door.

"No!, wait!" Liliana quickly said making the chief stop on his tracks and quickly turned around. "Yes?" he said.
"Look Liliana, even though if you don't testified against Criss. Either way he is gonna get convicted and you along the way. I'm giving you the chance to walk away free by doing a simple thing" the chief told Liliana.
Liliana got quiet "O..OK. I'll...I'll do it" she said in shaky voice.
"Great!" the chief said. " you made the right choice" he continued. Liliana began to cry.
"You'll be notified when his trial begins" the Chief said while he gave Liliana a tissue.
"I'll do it with one condition" Liliana abruptly said. "What is that?" the chief said. " Let me see him" Liliana said while wiping her tears off.

The chief thought it for a moment and denied her request. Liliana got angry and said, "!, I'm doing you a favor, and you can't even do me one" The chief sighed and agreed in letting Liliana see Criss. He quickly called for Officer Palmer. Palmer opened the door and the chief told him to bring out Criss.
"But chief, he.." Palmer was talking when he was quickly interrupted by the chief who said, "Damn it Palmer! bring him! It's an order" the chief remarked.
Palmer agreed and left. A few minutes later , someone open the door, and Liliana got up from her seat as the chief looked at her. Standing by the door was Palmer grabbing Criss by the arm who was still handcuffed and all beat up.

"Five minutes" the chief said while he made his way out of the room. "Lets go Palmer" the chief said. "But Sir we can't leave..." he was once again interrupted by the chief who said, "Lets go!!" and closed the door.
"Baby!" Liliana said making his way up to Criss to hug him.
Criss groaned out of pain. Liliana quickly let go of him " Oh my god Im sorry. Oh my god what did those animals did to you" she said while she wiped some of the blood that was in Criss lip.
"Babe, I'm glad your ok" Criss said while he hold her hands. Liliana started to cry. "Oh babe, don't cry" Criss said while he gave her a gentle kiss.

"Don't worry about me sweetie, this had to happen sooner or later. Remember nothing last for ever" Criss said trying to cheer Liliana up.
"I'm scared Criss!" Liliana said between sobs. Criss gently rose his arms up in the air so Liliana would get in between his arms.
"Promise me, that you're gonna leave Italy" Criss said while he rested his chin on Liliana's head. Liliana put her head back a little and looked at Criss.
"what??" Nooo! I wont do that! I'm gonna stay here" Liliana said. Criss was about to say something when someone opened the door.

"Times up" Officer Palmer said while he started grabbing Criss by the arm and pulling him away from Liliana.
Liliana began to cry again. " Dont worry babe. I'm gonna get you out of here" she said while she still holded his hand.
The officer began to pull Criss away and out of the door.
"Criss!!" Liliana screamed between sobs and tried to go after him. But one officer stopped her.
"I LOVE YOU LILY! I LOVE YOU!" Criss screamed as he was taken away.

CH.27
A week later...

Liliana was standing outside her balcony of her hotel room in Venice, gazing at the beautiful but lonely sunset. Suddenly, the phone rang making her jump out of fright. She quickly ran inside the room and answered the phone.
"Hello" she said calmly.
"Ms. Liliana, its me Chief Robert Lombardi. We have a date for the trial" the voice said on the other line.
Liliana let out a sigh. She didn't wanted to utter those words but she had to and finally said,
"When is it?"
"The day after tomorrow. at 10:30 am." the chief said.
"Where?" asked Liliana.
"At the Tribunale Amministrativo Regionale...you know where that is?" the chief asked Liliana.
"Yes, I know" Liliana responded.
"Ok. Hope I see you there" the chief said.
" I will" Liliana told him and hang up the phone.

Liliana began to walk back and forth. She couldn't do it. She couldn't testify against the love of her life. But as the chief said, Criss was going to get convicted even if Liliana didn't testify against him. She began to get really hot, and began to gasp for air. She decided to go out and take a walk so she could get some fresh air. She rapidly got her coat, her keys and headed out the door.

As she walked through the streets and breath the fresh air. She began to feel a little better. Suddenly she saw a big crowd of people shouting. It seemed like someone was giving quite a show. Liliana decided to get close to see what was causing all the commotion. She managed to get through the crowd until she could get a good view of what was going on. She saw a few people standing there posing for the cameras. Liliana tried to see who those people were. So she walked a little bit more, until she managed to get to the front of the big crowd.
Her eyes widened at the sight. "Johnny!?" she said to herself. She quickly tried to get out of there, but it was impossible.

Johnny was posing for the paparazzi, when suddenly one of the girls that was beside Liliana shouted Johnny's name. Making Johnny turn around. It didn't took him more than two seconds to rapidly spot Liliana. Liliana became aware that he already had spotted her, so once again she tried to get away. Johnny quickly went towards her and stopped her.
"Liliana!?" he said while he gently grabbed her arm.
Liliana gave up, she knew that she couldn't do anything else. She looked up until her met Johnny's and said,
"Yes!"

CH. 28
When all the commotion and chaos was over. Johnny invited Liliana to dinner, she hesitated a little bit. But then gave up and agreed to his invitation. Once in the restaurant Johnny and Liliana started talking while they dined.
"Wow! Look at you! Who would of thought that we would meet again" Johnny said as he took a sip of his red wine.

Liliana rose her eyebrows as a sign of surprise and said, "Yeah I know"
Johnny smiled " I'm glad we met again" he said.
"Look Johnny, I can forgive but never forget" Liliana commented as she looked directly at him. Johnny knew that she was talking about what had happen in the past.
" I'm sorry, I did not meat to hurt my little girl..."Johnny said as he reached out for Liliana's hand and gently caressed it.
Liliana was thrown off by his actions and quickly removed her hand out of the table.
"Johnny, what do want?" Liliana said in a sad tone.
" I want you to forgive me, darling. When I got out of coma. I knew that I had committed a terrible mistake in letting you go. I looked all over for you. But you were no where to be found" Johnny said in a serious yet sad tone.

"Look, Johnny you're just wasting your time...I'm in Lo..." Liliana couldn't finish her sentence when Johnny said, "...In love with someone else!..so you found someone else?" Johnny asked as he took another sip of his wine.
"Yes" Liliana said as she stared back at Johnny.
Johnny looked at her and gave her a sweet smile, " I'm happy that you found someone that knows how to treat you like you deserve to be treated. He is a lucky man, like I was once" he said.
Tears began to streamed down Liliana's eyes. Johnny didn't understand why she was crying.
"Honey, what's wrong?" he asked worriedly.
"It's my boyfriend. He is in..." Liliana couldn't say it.
"He is in what??" Johnny asked desperately. "He is in ja..." Liliana said but once again she couldn't finish her sentence.

"He is jail?" Johnny asked, " why?" he said.
"I can't tell you. I'm sorry I have to go" Liliana said and quickly got up and run out of the restaurant. She was about to cross the street, when she felt that someone grabbed her arm. She turned around and saw that it was Johnny.
"I'm no one to judge your boyfriend nor you. But I want you to know that I will help you get him out of there" he said.

CH. 29 Better that we break
The day of the trial finally arrived. Liliana woke up and got herself ready. She made her way down to the Hotel lobby and order a taxi and headed to the court. As the Taxi drove through the city, Liliana looked out the window with the most saddest eyes, she felt like she was going to a funeral. The taxi pulled over and told Liliana that they had arrived. Liliana was a bit shocked to know that they had arrived so darn early. Liliana paid the taxi driver, took a big breath and opened the door of the cab. She started to walk towards the entrance, and noticed a man standing there.

"Ahh good morning Ms. Ponce" Detective Palmer said.
Liliana gave him a sarcastic look and made her way inside. When she got inside she saw the Chief talking to Holly. Holly spotted Liliana and immediately told the Chief of her presence. The Chief turned around and made his way to where Liliana was.
" You came" the chief said to Liliana as he got closer to her.
"I said I was going to wasn't I" Liliana said in not so pleasant tone.
"You know what to do, and one more thing, if you back on us and don't do what your suppose to do, we'll make sure someone kills Criss inside his jail cell. " the chief exclaimed as he grabbed Liliana by her arm and made their way inside the courtroom.
"You wouldn't dare" Liliana exclaimed fearfully.
"Dare me!" the chief told her. Liliana couldn't believe it.

As the judge entered the room, Liliana began to feel nervous, her breathing began to get heavier. The chief who was sitting beside her noticed her and whispered, "Get a grip of yourself" Liliana froze and tried to relax.
" Bring out the defendant" the judge order.
Suddenly the door opened, and Criss came out with a orange suit, he had a scrubby face. He didn't looked scared but rather...relaxed. As the trial went on, Criss' luck wasn't getting any better, all the evidence the police had gathered, proof that he was the one who committed all those bank robberies. Suddenly it was time.
"Bring out our first witness" the judge order. As Liliana came out Criss eyes widen out of surprised, he couldn't believe that Liliana was going to testify.

A police officer made his way towards Liliana and told her to raise her right hand.
"You solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth" the police said.
" I Do" Liliana said and sat down. Liliana was looking all around the courtroom until she met with Criss' eyes. She quickly looked away and lowered her sight.
"Tell us your name" a lawyer said.
"My name is Liliana Ponce De Leon" she said.
"And how do you fit to this puzzle Ms. Ponce?" the lawyer asked.
Liliana hesitated a little and then said, " ......He....Kidnapped me" Criss rose from his sit, and screamed, "WHAT???" the judge order him to sit down and shut up. Criss couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"Did he harmed you?" the lawyer asked.
"No, but he made me be a part of his act in one the robberies"
"Ahh, so you are telling us, that Mr. Angel indeed, is a criminal"
Liliana's eyes began to get watery and began to breath hard, she looked at the chief who gave her an evil look that reminded her of what will happen to Criss if she didn't do her part.
"Ms. Ponce I asked you a question" the lawyer said, "Is he or not the person who committed all the bank robberies in the past two years?" the lawyer shouted.
"YES!...YES! HE IS!..." Liliana said as tears roll down her face.
"I rest my case" the lawyer said making his way to his seat.
