CH. 99 Destiny has other plans

"Hi Eli..where is Christopher?" Liliana asked as she put some grocery bags on the floor and closed the door. "He's outside playing soccer with his friends..didn't you saw him when you came in?" Eli replied looking at lily from the living room. "No! I just saw Ruben playing but then again I didn't pay much attention" Lily replied as she picked the grocery bags from the floor. "Let me help you!" Eli said as she rushed towards Liliana. Eli grabbed one of the bags and opened the door as Liliana headed to the kitchen. "Yeah, he's playing soccer" Eli shouted as she saw Christopher outside. She then headed to the kitchen and helped Liliana put the groceries away. "That kid, loves soccer more than anything" Liliana replied as she looked at her son through the kitchen window. "Hey, at least he's not stuck in his room planning a bank robbery..like someone!" Eli said sarcastically as she continued to unload the groceries from the bag. Liliana gave her an angered looked and sighed annoyed. "Hey!..it's true!" Eli stated firmly. Liliana nodded her head in disappointment and headed to the living room as soon as she finished sorting the groceries. Eli soon finished and headed to the living room too.

Liliana sat on the couch as she looked at the tv in silence. Eli sat on the other sofa and sighed, she then got up and sat next to Liliana. "I'm sorry Lily. I didn't meant to say that" Eli said embarrassed. "That's ok..don't worry about!" Liliana said as she wiped a tear that rolled down her cheek. "Oh no! prima no quice decir eso, perdoname" ( cousin, I didn't wanted to say that. Forgive me) Eli stated trying to reanimate her cousin. "No, no. It's fine. you're right. At least he's outside doing something fun instead of...doing that other stuff" Liliana said as she try to held her tears back. "You miss him huh?" Eli asked softly. "It's been so long..." Liliana sighed as her eyes started to get watery. "So you think is over with you and him? there's no hope of you two getting back?" Eli asked. "Please! Eli it was over a long time ago...maybe one day, I will see him again, when Christopher decides that he wants to see his dad" Liliana stated with no emotion. "Well, whatever you decide I will be here to support you ok" Eli said with a smile. "Thank you Eli, I love you!" Liliana said as she hugged her. "Aww I love you too cuz" Eli replied back. As they broke the hug, Christopher came running into the living room. "Mom mom!, podemos ir a la plaza!?" ( can we go to the plaza?) he said all sweaty and out of breath. Liliana was cought by surprise by her son. "Por que?" (why) she asked as she looked a bit confused. "Ruben told me that there's gonna be a dance show and food..I wanna eat tacos" Christopher said excited. "Ahh I see. Well your not ready, it's 7:15 pm. you need to take a shower and get dress" Liliana told him. "I'll do that in a blink of an eye" he said and rushed to get himself ready. "I guess we're gonna go eat tacos!" Eli said as she and Liliana laughed.


-------Back in New York-------
Criss was in his room looking at the album Dimi had done. He smiled at every picture he saw of Liliana and his son. He sighed, "Aww Lily if you knew that I miss you sooo much" he said in a sad tone. "Where could you be?" he asked himself as he continued looking at the pictures. 4 years, or 5 years to be exact-counting the year he was in Europe- felt like decades. He knew that he had committed the worst mistake in his entire life. Choosing bank robberies over Liliana and his own son made him realize that he was a piece of , or even worse. His life had no meaning if Liliana wasn't with him. He thought for a second and imagine what could Liliana be doing in this exact moment. He slowly started to nod his head. "Yeah, probably she found someone that truly valued her, and love her...But, I can't stand to imagine another man, a complete stranger raising my child. My little boy! No!" Criss stated furious. In that moment a knock was heard the door. "Come in" Criss said as he closed the album and put it inside the drawer. "What are you doing?" JD asked as he came in. "Ahh nothing, just thinking." he said hiding his anger of what he just had thought. "Well you seem a little down on the dumps so..I wanted to invite you to lunch..what do you say? come on. I will do you some good to get out of this cave" JD said. Criss hesitated but at the end gave in and left.

While they waited for their food Criss looked outside the window as he thought of his son calling another man father. "Criss! are you ok?" JD asked making Criss snap out of his deep thoughts. "What?" he replied as he shook his head a bit. "Are you ok? you were kind of spacing off" JD stated. "Yeah, I'm fine" he declared. "You don't need to hide the fact that you were thinking of Liliana and your son" JD demanded. "I know. I'm sorry. You know what? Know that I think about it..I guess Liliana was right after all" Criss stated. JD looked confused, "in what?" he asked. "That maybe...we're not meant to be together" he said as he sighed. "What? no man! don't say that. I know it's been..what? 4 years of searching for her but don't give up. I know it's hard and that you're a desperate but don't give up bro" JD stated. "I'm not giving up JD. I'm just embracing reality. and reality is that...we're not meant to be together. If we we're meant to be together. I would of found her already but...I haven't it. That's reality. Destiny doesn't want us together." Criss said with a heartbreaking tone. JD sighed. "I know she's happy somewhere out there. I know she has someone by her side that is making her happy if not. I know she will find someone who deserves her love. I don't deserve her, after all that I've done to her. She's better off with out me" Criss stated as he took a zip of his wine. "God Criss. I didn't know you were so emo" JD said. Criss gave him a small laugh. "It's true. It's time to let her go. to let her be happy and find my self some happiness else where" Criss said confident.

"Criss!" A voice was heard coming from behind Criss. Criss rapidly look back and looked surprised. "Sandra?" he stated with a smile. "Hi..it's been to long" she asked a bit shyly. "I know.. but how you been?" Criss asked but suddenly his eyes wonder to the side as he looked behind Sandra. "Is that...Cristina?" Criss asked with a smile. "Oh yes. This is my baby all grown up" Sandra stated. "How old is she?" Criss said as he continued glancing at little Cristina. "She's 6" Sandra replied as she picked her up. "The same age as my son" Criss thought to himself. "Oh please sit with us. I'm just here with my brother" Criss said as Sandra greeted JD and Criss grabbed little Cristina. "Hi..remember me?" Criss asked her. little Cristina nodded her head and giggled. "Of course not" Criss said. "I'm happy to see you both" Criss remarked.

----Back in somewhere around the world----

"Mom hurry" Christopher shouted as he run to the plaza along side with his friend Ruben. "Stay close Criss" Liliana shouted as she walked with Eli. Christopher hurried to grabbed some chairs for his mom and aunt so they could see the show. As the night went on, Lily and Eli were having fun. When the show ended, Christopher approached his mom, "Mom can we go eat tacos now" he said happily. "Yes, we can now go eat tacos" she stated with a smile. "Yay! Vamos Ruben" Criss stated and run to where the taco stand was. Liliana was getting up from her seat and turn around but accidentely bumped into someone making her purse fall down. "Lo siento" (I'm sorry) she said as she tried to pick up her purse. "Porfavor, yo la agarro" (Please, I'll get that) the voice said. When the person picked up the purse to give it back to Liliana he was thrown back by her wonderful beauty. Her dark hair, her olive smooth skin, her big maroon eyes. "Lo siento, fui yo el que no me fije" (I apologize, it was me who wasn't looking) the man stated. "No se preocupe" (Don't worry) Liliana said with a shyly smile. "Disculpe, como se llama?" (I'm sorry, what's your name?) the man asked intrigued. "Liliana, y usted?" (Liliana and you?) she said as she admired this tall darked hair, big chocolate brown eyes spanish looking man. "David" he said as he shook Liliana's hand.

"So Sandra, what have you been up to all this years?" Criss asked as he had little Cristina on his lap. Sandra looked down for a moment, " Well, I been working for a design company here in New York for 3 years now". she replied. "That's cool. So you been living here for quite a while?" JD asked as he took bite of his food. Sandra looked at him and nodded. When Sandra finally signed the divorce papers a while back she went back to little cristina's daddy. They lived together for a year and a half. However, the guy treated Sandra badly and decided to live him. She then moved back to Arizona with a sister of hers and lived there for a year and worked as a waitress. It wasn't until one of her friends visited them and told sandra that they were looking for an assistant in the design company. She didn't wanted to move to New York, but she gave it a shot at the job opportunity, and to her luck she got it. She then move with her little girl to New York and lived for a few months with her friend until she could find a descent place to live. And well, since then life has been treating her pretty well. "So your no longer with her father?" Criss said as he pointed with his eyes at little Cristina. Sandra hesitated a bit to reply, "Yeah, not anymore. I'm just glad I didn't commit the terrible mistake in staying with him" she said confident. In that moment JD received a phone call and step out for a minute. He then came back telling Criss that he had to go because something had occurred at work. He said bye to Sandra and little Cristina and left. There was complete silence, it was more like awkward silence. However, Sandra broke the ice, "I didn't know you were so in love with Liliana and that the kid we met years ago in France was your child" she said.

"I have to say you have a wonderful name" David told Liliana as they both sat on a bench. "Why thank you..you're making me blush" Liliana replied embarrassed. "So where are you from? Because you don't have a mexican accent" Liliana asked as he looked at him. David chuckled, " Yeah I know, I tried doing a mexican accent but I just can't. I'm from Spain..Barcelona to be exact" he said as he smiled at her. "I kind of knew you where from there" she replied. "So is he your little brother?" David asked as he saw little Christopher and Ruben with Eli on the taco stand. Liliana giggled, "No, he's my son" she said. He smiled, "yeah I knew. I heard him call you mom" he said. "do you live here? Cuz I haven't seen you before" Liliana asked curiously. "Umm No, I came to visit some family. I been here for a week now. But I live back in Barcelona" he said as he looked at her. "Oohh I see" Liliana said kind of....sad. "Is everything ok?" David asked. "Ohh yeah. I just thought you lived around here" she said embarrassed. "Well I will be here for another 3 weeks. I guess that gives us a lot of time to get to know each other" David said happily making Liliana smile.

"Mom here I brought you tacos" Christopher said as she approached Liliana and David. "Aww thank you sweet heart" she said as she gave him a kiss on the cheek. David smiled at the beautiful scene. "and I brought some for Señor David" Christopher said as he signaled his friend to give him the plate. "Oh wow thank you guys! you shouldn't have." he said pleased. Christopher smiled, "is nothing really" he said making David and Liliana laugh. In that moment Christopher saw that some guy was selling soccer balls. "Mom can I get one?" he said. But Liliana told him that she had no money that maybe later. The guy passed along them and offer them the soccer merchandise that he was selling. "please mom!" he said. "I'm sorry honey but I really have no money" Liliana said. "Which one do you like?" David asked him. Cristopher looked and said he liked the white with red. "We'll get that one" David order the guy as he took out his wallet to pay. "Oh no, David you don't need to do that" Liliana said embarrassed. "Oh is nothing" he said as he payed the guy and have the ball to Christopher. "So you like soccer?" David asked him. "If I like it, no! I love it" Christopher said. "Ok, we'll see how good you are" David said as he grabbed the ball and walked a bit father. "Show me what you got, you too Ruben" David said with a smile as he saw the two kids run towards him to play. Eli sat next to Liliana and looked at David and then looked at her cousin. "I think you found your match!"Eli said with a smile as he saw Liliana staring at him and his son play.

Ch. 100 Different thoughts

“Thanks for everything David” Liliana said as she and David approached her house. “Ahh it’s nothing really..I had a really good time with you and little Criss” David said happily. “and me too” Eli exclaimed surprising David. “And you as well” David said with a laugh. Cristopher came out running all happy with his soccer ball in hand. Liliana and David looked at him with a smile. “Well little man I think is time to put you up to bed” Eli said. “Say good night to David, Christopher” Liliana exclaimed looking at her son. “Buenas Noches Señor David and thank you for the soccer ball. I had a good time tonight” Cristopher said with a little smirk. “I’m glad you had fun that’s all that matter, good night” David said as he put his hand on Christopher’s head. Christopher hugged and kiss Liliana and said good night and in went Eli holding Christopher’s hand inside the house. There was complete silence between Liliana and David. Suddenly David broke the ice by clearing his throat and making Liliana look at him. “So, are you giving me the privilege to see you..again?” he asked with a certain sparkle in his eyes. Liliana smiled. She felt like a teenage girl who had just been asked out by the cute guy who lives down the street. She blushed a little and started to feel butterflies in her stomach. But all of the sudden reality hit her and her smile quickly faded. “What’s wrong?” David asked worried. “It’s obvious we’re not some teenagers who easily go out on dates and what not..we’re adults and well we have responsibilities..what I’m trying to say is that I have a son and he’s all that matters to me right now and I just don’t wanna mess anything up right now” she said sadly while David listen carefully. “Liliana…I’m not asking for you to be my wife or anything like that. I understand that we are not teenagers anymore but that we are adults. And as adults I know that what I’m looking for is something serious. I know that you have a son! But that’s not an obstacle for me to not see you again. I want to see you and Christopher as well. Please just be open to new paths and let me get to know you and your son..what do you say to that?” David said with hopes. “Please say yes mommy!” Little Christopher shouted as he peaked out from the window.

Back in New York

As Criss and Sandra were talking Criss felt something in his chest and grabbed himself. “Are you ok Criss?” Sandra asked worried. “I don’t know I just started to feel like something was taken away from me!” he said with a heavy breathe. “is it something physical. Does it hurt you?” Sandra asked even more worried. “No!..it’s more emotional!” he said as he started to tear up.

“We need to take you to a hospital” Sandra stated while she started to stand up. “It’s fine Sandra. I don’t think is necessary” Criss replied as he grabbed her hand to sit her back down. Sandra looked at him worried. She knew he was hurting but not physically. It was more on the deeper level, more personal, more sentimental. She wonder what would of her life have been if she had stayed with Criss. She loved him, but then again she hesitated a bit when she remember that she had lied to him about little Cristina. She knew Criss was a nice person however, deep down she made this unconscious idea that Criss would never forgive her for what she did.

“Are you ok Sandra?” Criss said as he looked at her confused. “Yes, I’m fine. I was just thinking that it would be better if a doctor saw you” she said with a worried look. Criss could see that Sandra really cared for him. However, if it wasn’t for that awful lie, he probably would be with her right now sharing a wonderful life together as a family, but destiny had other plans.

“Criss so where is Liliana?” Sandra asked a bit nervous. Criss hesitated a bit and looked down at his drink. “ I..don’t know” he finally said. Sandra was confused. She wasn’t expecting that kind of answer. “What do you mean you don’t know? Weren’t you two together?” she asked while she looked at Cristina who was playing on the other chair. “Well, yeah we were together. But due to some circumstances…we ended our relationship” he stated sadly. “I’m sorry” she replied while she reached for his hand that was resting on the edge of the table. Criss looked at it and slowly raised his eyes until it met Sandra’s.

**************Flashback**************

"Criss.." she said as she whipped her tears away. Criss quickly stood up and stared at her.

"what?" he said waiting for an answer.

"You deserve much better than me.." Liliana said trying to hold her tears back.

"Don't say that..." Criss interrupted.

"Criss there is always something in the way between you and me. First it was the law, second it was johnny, now is her...don't you see, we're not meant to be together. Destiny will always keep us apart" she said as she looked at Criss.

"Lily we're meant to be together...these are just obstacles, but we can overcome them" Criss remarked.



“She’s right destiny will always keep us apart” Criss whispered. “What did you said?” Sandra asked confused. Criss nodded his head. “Nothing” he stated. He looked outside the window for a moment and quickly looked down to see that Sandra was still holding his hand. He abruptly grabbed Sandra’s hand with both of his hands and got closer to her. “ Sandra I know that we been through some rought patches in our lives. But I believe that if you are here with me right now is for a reason. I believe that we can make this work again.” He stated as he looked at her and glanced at little Cristina. “What do you say Sandra? Would you give this crazy guy another chance at love?” he stated firmly. Sandra looked at him surprised, she was speechless but she knew that if she hesitated more in answering maybe he would back down on his proposal. “Of course Criss” Sandra answer. Criss smiled and quickly but gently planted a kiss on her.

Ch. 101 making changes

“Good morning” Eli said as she walked into the kitchen. “Good morning” Liliana stated as she prepared herself a nice cup of hot coffee. She glanced at Eli who was now in front of the fridge deciding what to have for breakfast. Liliana smiled and nodded her head slyly and made her way to the table. “So…how was last night?” Eli stated as she took out a bowl from the counter top. Liliana glared at her while she took a sip from her coffee. “…Good…” lily said and continued to enjoy her drink. Eli quickly turned around “WHAT? JUST GOOD?” she exclaimed as she too made her way into the table. Liliana gave her a surprised yet sarcastic look. “Umm yeah! What else do you want me to say?” she stated. “Well I don’t know… you could say that it was amazing, that maybe Señor David kissed you good night…” “Eli!!!” Liliana interrupted her shocked. “What?..it could of happen..Just saying. You don’t need to get all feisty on me” Eli continued as a small grin appeared on her face.

Liliana sighed and rolled her eyes. She took another sip from her mug and put it down.

*************Flashback**************

"I don't care!" Criss shouted again. "Damn it Criss you're scaring your child!" Costa exclaimed as he saw Liliana and little Christopher crying. "Think about your son!" JD proclaimed. George just remained quite trying to understand what was going on. " Oh for haven's sake..don't put my son into this" Criss exclaimed angered. "You don't get it JD, no one does. I need to feel alive again. I need to feel my heart beating faster than ever. The adrenaline through my veins. I want that excitement back..." Criss explained. "Criss please don't..." Liliana said but was interrupted by Criss. "That's why I'm going back to robbing backs!" he stated firmly. Liliana grabbed her son tighter as tears continued to stream down her face. Costa's and George's jaw hit the floor at the sound of those news. George rapidly let Criss go. There was almost complete silence. You could hear the hard breathing and the deep sobs of little Christopher. Criss finally broke the silence. "I'm going back to Europe. My job here as a magician has come to an end" he stated and started to make his way to the door. Suddenly, Liliana spoke out, "If you walk out of the door...forget that you have a son and a girl who loves you!" Liliana said between sobs. Everyone looked at her shocked. They weren't expecting that. Criss just stared at her and without saying a word walked away.



“Lily..lily..lily!!” Eli exclaimed. “Yes!” Liliana responded. “What’s wrong? You all of the sudden spaced off..you ok?”Eli asked concerned. “Oh I’m fine. Just tired that’s all” she lied. “ Ok” Eli said and continued to eat her breakfast. Liliana stared at her for a moment and quickly stood up and headed towards the sink to wash her cup. She looked outside the window. It was beautiful Tuesday morning. The sky was blue than ever. Birds were chirping and the sun rays were just welcoming the day. Little Cristopher had left to school and Liliana had few errands to run that day. “Eli do you think that I should accept David’s proposal?” she said interrupting Eli from her breakfast. Eli looked a bit thrown off with the question and looked at Liliana who was leaning against the sink. “About you two going out? Hell yeah!..Lily come on is not like you’re an old lady. You’re young you have the right to meet new people” She said. Liliana looked bit worried and Eli noticed it. “Hey Lily look at me..listen…I know that you’re a bit scared because of what happed with Criss and well you have a son and you need to look after him. But hey! Like David said he wants something serious. He knows you have a kid and for heaven sake he bonded with him beautifully. My advice to you is yes! Accept David’s proposal. Go out on a date with him! Get to know him! If you realized he is not the one you’re looking for..tell him and its over” Eli stated firmly. Liliana stood there quietly but suddenly a smirk appeared on her face. “You’re right” she said happily.



Later that afternoon Liliana got ready and run some errand around town. She knew it was time to go pick up Cristopher from school and headed over there. She parked her car and looked at her watch two more minutes she said and got out of the car and walked to the school gate. The bell rang and kids started to come out. She said hello to a few kids and a few moms. “Mami!” Cristopher shouted as he run to her mom’s arms. “My angel!” she stated with a smile and kissed his head. “How was school?” She asked as she and Cristopher started to walk back to the car. “It was fun! Today we learned about the weather. And how rain is form” he stated excited. “Wow sounds like you had a blast” she said as she opened the door for him. She got into the car and buckled up. She sighed and looked at her son who was in the passenger’s seat. “Are you hungry?” she asked. “Yes” he stated. “Wanna go eat at Chayito’s place?” she stated. “Yes!” he said with a big smile. And off they drove.

As they arrived at the little bistro and order some drinks little Criss asked. “Is my aunt Eli coming?” Lianana looked at him. “No sweety she went to have lunch with Cousin Sofia. As they waited for their meals to arrive Liliana took the opportunity to talk about something serious with her son. “Baby? What do you think about David?” she said a bit nervous. Little Criss put his drink down on the table. “Señor David? He’s great mom! He knows how to play soccer. And you know I love soccer. He’s really cool” he explained as he continued to zip on his drink. Liliana smiled. “Yes he is a nice man…and…what do you think of him coming home to see me and you of course?” Liliana asked. “Like he being your boyfriend?” he asked. “Well no baby not like that but like trying to get to know us a bit more…” “so he could be your boyfriend?” he interrupted. Well..”Liliana said. “I don’t mind..I would love that mami! I could see that he really likes you!” little Criss said with a smile. “You think so?” Liliana asked surprised. “Oh yes! I know! Trust me Señor David likes you a lot” he stated. Liliana smiled and reached for his little boy’s hand. “I love you mami and I want you to be happy and I think Señor David can do that!” he said while he got down from the chair and hugged Liliana. “And I also wanna a dad!” he stated making Liliana widen her eyes.

She wasn’t expecting that to come out from her little boy. “Baby you know you have a father!” she said. “I know that” he explained. “Tell me something baby, do you want to meet your real father? You know that if that’s the case I will gladly look for him so you could meet him.” She explained as she put her son on her lap. Christopher looked down for a moment. “I know who he is I’ve seen his magic shows and I have picture of him in my room remember?” he said. “Yes I know that sweetheart. But is another different story when meeting him in person” Liliana explained. “I know that! But I don’t want to meet him!” he said looking at his mom’s eyes.

That night...

Liliana was in her room sitting on a comfortable sofa near the window which presented Liliana with a wonder view of the night sky and city. She enjoyed her hot cup of tea that made her relax. The thought of hearing her son that he didn't wanted to see Criss was bugging her mind. She had never, not once said awful things about Criss to her son. The fact that little Christopher was more ok with David being his father than Criss made Liliana's mind curious. She took another sip of her hot and relaxing tea that was resting along side in a little table.

The lights in the room were dim which helped Liliana not get tense and frustrated about what was going on in her mind. She now wonder what Criss could be doing in that exact moment. "I bet his enjoying his life robbing banks" she thought to herself as she bit her lower lip. "I wonder if he found someone else?" her mind continued with all this questions. She look to her right to glance at the watch. It was 8:00 pm. Eli was down stairs watching T.V and little Criss was probably playing in his room. She decided to put a little bit of music just to set the mood. She wasn't angry or sad. She was relaxed and she hadn't felt that way for a long time. She turn on the radio and went back to sit down. "Half of my heart" by John Mayer started to play. She took another sip of her tea and close her eyes as she let her head rest on the sofa.

Suddenly her deep relaxation was disturbed by a small noise near the window. She raised her head from the sofa and took a peek at the window. She stared at it for a few seconds and went back to close her eyes. The noise was heard again and this time she got up and open the window and looked both side and then looked down.

"Oh m god what are you doing?" Liliana said surprised with a smile as she put her head out the window. "I came to see you" David said as he stood in front of the door with a bouquet of flowers in hand. "You could of just knock Eli is down stairs. Instead of trowing pebbles to the window" Liliana said as she giggled. "Well yeah you're right but as I was walking down the street over here I saw you" he said with a smile. That smile made Liliana melt a little inside. what was happening to her. She kind of new but she didn't wanted to jump to conclusions. "I'll be right down" Liliana said with a smile as she closed the window and headed down. "David came" Liliana whispered to Eli as she crossed the Living room and headed towards the door.

"Hi" Liliana said as she open the door and saw David standing there. He was wearing slick blue jeans, a white shirt underneath with a blue and black square pattern shirt on top and a black lether jacket. His deep caramel eyes and smile was the only thing he needed to do for Liliana to feel like a teenager once again. " I brought you this of course they can't compete with your beauty" he said as he handed the flowers to Liliana. "Thank you..you shouldn't have" Liliana said as she recieved them and smell them. "I was wondering if you wanna go out and just talk go grab a coffee or something" he said as he got closer to her. Liliana hasitated a bit. she didn't know if it was a good idea. However, she gave in and said yes. "Please come in while I go grab my jacket" she replied as David step inside to see Eli watching T.V

"hi Eli" he said as he waved at her. "Hi David,,how are you? we weren't expecting you" Eli said as she went towards him and gave him a hug. "Well I was just in the neighborhood as they say" he said making Eli laugh and him as well. "Are you guys going out?" Eli said surprised as she saw Liliana coming down the stairs as she put her brown leather jacket and grabbed her purse and keys. "Umm yeah..we're just gonna get some coffee or something" Liliana said. "umm Ok" Eli replied as she glanced at David who was standing in front of her. "I already told Cristopher I was going out..bye see you in a bit" Liliana said to Eli as she hugged her good bye. Eli shook David's hand and walked them to the door. After a few walks around the park David decided to invite Liliana to dinner in a small and private bistro that was just two blocks away from the park. As they waited for their food Liliana laughed at David's jokes, overall they were having a good time.

"So tell me David, what do you do for a living?" Liliana asked as she took a bite of her food. David took a sip of his drink and rested it on the table before she could answer. "I'm a lawyer" he replied. "That's nice" Liliana stated with a smile making David smile at her too. "Now that we know a little more about ourselves..may I ask you something?" David asked as he looked at Liliana. "Sure" she said. "Where's Cristopher's father?" he finally asked. Deep down Liliana knew that question was coming. However, she wasn't insulter or mad at his question. I mean they were getting to know each other, of course he had to ask those kinds of questions. "Well, to my understanding he resides in Europe. But I'm not sure! I haven't seen or heard from him for about 5 years" she stated as she took a sip of her drink. "Do you have kids?" Liliana asked as she tried to make more conversation. "I don't but I do love kids. I coach soccer to 7 to 10 year-old kids" he stated with grin.

As the night went on it was time for Liliana to return home. "I had great time" Liliana said as she climb up the stairs of her front yard. "I did too..Thank you for sharing your past with me" David said with a smile as he reached for Liliana's hand. Liliana look at his hand and then look up. "It's nothing..you bring in me that sense of trust" she stated. "You may think this is fast but I really like you..since the first day that I saw you at the Plaza, you made my heart race" David said in a serious tone as he pulled Liliana towards him. Liliana let out a small gasped as she closed her eyes and then open them again and see David stading just a few inches away from her. She could feel her heart starting to race and her nerves tense up. Adrenaline was rushing through her system. " I really want to be part of your life" David finally said and sealed the comment with a kiss.

A week later...

Back in New york every one was getting use to the idea of having Sandra once again back in their Lifes. Dimi wasn't that thrilled but in the back of her mind she made this idea that her uncle Criss was doing that just to get away from the pain and sadness that Liliana had left him. Dimi was still a bit angry for what Sandra had did to Criss back then, it making him believe that little Cristina was his daughter. Dimitra wasn't so fond of the idea of Criss decision in dating Sandra again but she thought that her son deserve to find love again. And JD and Costa weren't happy either. But they rather see his little brother happy and getting another shot at love than seeing him all emotional locked up in a room. Sandra could feel the tension from Criss' family but she was trying her best i winning them back.

It seemed that both Liliana and Criss were giving themselves another chance at Love. David had propose to Liliana to move with him back to Barcelona along with Eli. Criss had made the concious choice to get back into the magic business and Felix Rappaport happily agreed to give him a 10 year contract in the Luxor again. However, this time he didn't wanted to move in back into the Hotel and decided to buy a wonderful mansion right there in Las Vegas which he named Serenity.

A year later...

In barcelona, Spain...

"Are you excited?" Eli asked as she rested on the bed. " I actually am!" Liliana said full of exciment as she was getting ready to go out. "Can you help me zip up" Liliana asked Eli. Eli made her way towards Liliana and helped her. "So how do I look?" Liliana said. "Wonderful mami" Cristopher said as he made his way into the room. "Thank you sweetheart" Liliana responded as she kissed her son on the cheek. "Can you believe is my one year anniversary with David?" she stated happily. "Wow time flies" Eli remarked as she played with Christopher's hair. As Liliana fished herself up she heard the doorbell. "It must be him" Liliana said with a smile. "I'll get it" Christopher said as he sprinted from the bed and headed down stairs to open the door. "Hey buddy!" David said as he put his hand on Chris' head. "Mom will come down" Chris stated while both of them made their way into the living room. "Well, meanwhile I want to give you this" David said to Chris as he handed him a bag. "What is it?" Chris asked full of exciment. "Open it" David stated with grin. As Chris was opening his present he couldn't believe it. "Oh my god you got me the official Barcelona jersey and its signed by all the soccer players..even Messi and Gerard Pique" Criss stated all cheerful. "Thanks David!!" he remarked.

In that moment Liliana was coming down the stairs. David looked up and it was blown away by such wonderful beauty. "You look...beautiful..words can't even describe how wonderful you look" David said as he leaned to kiss her which made Liliana blushed.

David had their whole night planned out. He wanted it to be perfect for the perfect woman. When they got to their dinner reservation Liliana was blown away that David had managed to get a table just by themselves in the balcony which gave them a spectacular view of the city lights of Barcelona. In the corner violin players were playing soft classical music. It was perfect. As their desserts arrive, the plates were covered up, and as the waiter left. Liliana removed the top that was covering her plate and revealed a wonderdul yet elegant diamond ring sitting on the plate. Liliana was speechless she look up to see David who he was know approaching her and kneeled in front of her. "Liliana you have made me the most happiest man in world this past year. I couldn't have asked for a better person because you're more than that. you're beautiful, funny, intelligent, kind! and I want to spend the rest of my life by your side!...therefore would you do me the honor of being my wife?" David stated.

"Yes David I accept" she said with tears in her eyes.

Bsck in the house Cristopher was with one of his friends named Roxana. "Are you sure you wanna do this?" she asked as she glanced at Criss who was looking out the window. "Yes Roxxy If I don't do this now I will never have the change." Chris said a bit nervous. "Ok" Roxana said as she handed him the telephone. "Check that my aunt Eli doesn't come into the room" Chris said as he started to dial the phone. Roxana just stared at him scared.

"Hello" someone replied on the other side of the line.
"Hi...can I speak to Criss Angel" Chris said all tensed up. Roxana's eyes widen and got near Christopher.
"Yes, this is he speaking, whose this?" Criss said.
There was silence and roxana gave Chris a little punch and a look to tell him to asnwer.
"Yes? Hello?...This is Criss Angel whose this?" Criss said again.
"your son!" Christopher finally said.

CH. 102 Taking a different path

Criss stood shocked at the sound of those words. His eyes widen and tried to say a word but he couldn't say anything, he was... speechless. Little Christopher on the other side freeze up and abruptly hang up the phone. His heart was beating faster than ever it seemed like Chris had just finish running a mile all around the park. He started to breathe hard and sweat was staring to form at the top of his forehead. "Are you ok Chris?" Roxana asked worried as he noticed her friend's sudden change. Little Chris stood from the bed as he started to paced back and forth. He was grabbing his head as if a headache started to form. His breathing continued to grow faster and faster. Roxana started to get scared. "Chris are you ok? you're scaring me!" she stated as she too stood up from the bed and stared at little Chris. "I..I..I shouldn't have called him" Chris stated nervously. "Calm down Chris. you did nothing wrong. is not like your mom forbid you from trying to find him" Roxana explained as she tried to reassured Chris. "My head hurts" Chris stated as he sat down back on the bed. "Let me go tell your aunt Eli" Roxana replied as she headed towards the door. "Roxana don't tell her what I just did" Christ said. Roxana just nodded her head and closed the door behind her.

"Thank you sooo much for such a wonderful night" Liliana said to david as the car pulled up the driveway. "I'm just happy you said yes!" David stated as he turn of the car's engine. They both laughed and David leaned to kissed her. "When are you letting the news out to Christopher?" David said as he put Liliana's hair behind her ear. "I was thinking today along with Eli...you know what I can't wait to tell them and see their faces" Liliana said with a smiled. David smiled at her and kissed her again. "I don't wanna let you go but let's get you inside your house safe and sound" David exclaimed with a wink and got out of the car. He went around the car and open the door for Liliana. "Look, what a beautiful fiancée I have" David said as he helped Liliana out of the car. "and I must say what a handsome fiancé I have!" Liliana replied.

"Text me when you get home, I'll see you tomorrow"Liliana said and gave one more kiss to her future husband and closed the door. "Hey guys Im back" Liliana said as she turn her engagement ring and hid the diamond from view. "I'm in the living room" Eli shouted. "Hey!" Liliana greeted Eli as she walked into the living room. She walked to were Eli was sitting down and plotted herself down as well. "So..how did it go?" Eli said curious as she turn off the volume down. "Oh my god! it was great..very romantic I'll give him kudos for such a wonderful effort he did" Liliana exclaimed. "Aww so you sure had a romantic getaway here in Barcelona?" Eli asked with a grin. "Sure did...where is Chris" Liliana asked. "He's taking a shower..I don't if it was just me but he was acting very strange after we took Roxana home" Eli explained. "Roxana was here?" Liliana asked. Eli nodded her head. " and how was Chris acting strange?" Liliana asked concerned. "umm well he was stuttering a lot..which he doesn't do. He was also sweating I could see the drops on his forehead" Eli finally explained. "I'm gonna go see him" Liliana said and went upstairs.

She found her son standing up by his room window looking outside. "Hey baby!" Liliana said as she stood at the foot of the door. Chris look back and saw his mom standing there. "Mom!" Chris stated as Liliana started to walk into the room. Chris run towards her and hugged her. "Woah what's going on?" Liliana asked surprised as she pulled him up and grabbed him tighly and walked to his bed. She lay him down and she sat down next to him. " What's wrong baby? are you ok?" Lily asked a bit worried as she saw her son to get nervous. "Nothing mom..umm how did it go with David?" he asked to deviate the conversation. "It was good, fun! I had a great time..but don't try to get away from my quesions what's wrong?" Liliana asked concerned. "Mom I didn't wanted to do it. I'm sorry! please don't be mad" he stated. Liliana just looked at him confused. "I called him...my dad" Chris finally said nervously. Liliana's eyes widen. "you what?" Liliana whispered surprised.

Back in Las Vegas...

Criss was sitting there on his office still trying to figure out what just had happen. "My son just called me" that statement run in his head over and over again. He put his hands over his face still a bit shocked.

"Hey Criss I just had a call from some companies that want to sponsor your new clothing line if you just...Criss are you listening?" Costa said as he marched in into Criss office. Criss was there alright but his mind was still on his son. "My son just called me" he whispered. "What's that?" Costa said confused. "My son just called me!" Criss exclaimed a bit louder this time. "What???" Costa asked surprised. Criss turn around on his chair to face Costa who was standing in front of him. "Costa my son my little boy called me a few minutes ago" Criss said still a bit overwhelmed. "What did he say?" Costa asked. "Nothing really. He just said he was my son!" Criss said as he looked at the phone. "That's it?" Costa replied as he scratch his head. " I mean yeah after he told me that I kind of froze and didn't say nothing I was speechless and he then gang up" Criss explained. Costa just stood there with nothing to say. "Costa I heard my little boy's voice! can you believe that? I have to tell my mom about this" Criss said all happy as a gin appeared on his face.


Back in Barcelona, Spain...

"Please mom don't be mad at me" Chris said a bit scared and anxious. Liliana was spacing out the thought of seeing Criss again wasn't in her plans. especially now when she just had gotten engaged to David. Liliana then looked at her son who was staring at her with fear in his eyes. "Oh baby...of course I'm not mad at you!" she said as she hug him. "you're not?" he asked surprised. "Of course not..but you should of have told me that you got a hold of his number and that you wanted to call him" she stated with a sweet smile. "But your not mad at me because I searched for my dad, especially when you're with David?" Chris asked concerned. "Baby, I'm not mad. and just because you wanna know about your father is not going to affect my relationship with David" she said as she caressed Chris' face. Chris smiled and sigh out of relieve. "I just felt bad because I don't wanna cause you problems with David" he stated. "Oh baby never say that! you will never cause problems for me. you're the first on my list and I care about you more than anything in this world you hear me?" Liliana said to reanimate her son. He just nodded. "I feel better and relief now" Chris replied. "I'm glad! So you better go to sleep!" Liliana said and kiss her son good night. As she walked out the door and turn off the light she looked down at the small trash can that was beside, she bend down to grab what was inside and closed the door.

As she walked down the corridor she yelled to Eli who was still down stairs that she was heading to sleep. "Good night" Eli shouted from down stairs as Liliana went inside her room and closed the door. She looked into the mirror and sighed. She saw that her cellphone was beeping 3 text messages from David were displayed. She went inside her restroom and took her heels off. She grabbed her head for a little as she were thinking something. She finally got up and grabbed the phone.

She open the little piece of paper she had found of Chirs' trash can and started to dial the number. She took a deep breath as she dial the last number and but the phone next to her ear. The suspense was killing her.

"Hello" said a voice on the other said of the line.
"Can I speak to Criss...Angel" Liliana finally said.
"May I ask whose calling him?" The voiced said.
"Can you please pass the call to him" Liiliana said irritated.

"Criss someone's calling you" One of the workers said as he handed the phone to him.
"Who is it" Criss asked. "I don't know" the worker said and left. Criss looked at his brother Costa and JD who were in front of him looking at some posters.
"Hello, Criss speaking" Criss said.
"Hi Criss!" Liliana said with some nerve.
"Liliana!?" Criss replied shocked.
"Yeah is me!" Liliana replied as she closed her eyes.
