This is a Criss Angel fanfic!
Hope you enjoy
__________________________________________________ _______
"Ms. Cane!!" A young blonde boy hustled, pointing out the class room door to the hallway, "Cristy's getting into a fight!!" He yelled, excited from the one fight they haven't seen all year. My patients for that girl was beyond empty, and I found myself slightly hoping she got beat this time. But, as the only World history teacher in this Middle School, one of Cristy's, I just had to intervene into the situation that I called 'worthless'.
"Come and sit back down, Greg. I'll handle it." I let out a dramatic sigh. I shoved my way past screaming teens, and hormonal little girls that thought that red lipstick was for minors like them. A whole crowd of them bunched around the fight that was rumbling in the middle of the hallway, screaming and laughing at the new excitement that they've never seen before.
Cristy, my hazard, was rolling on the floor with a really big middle school girl. And I mean big. She was quite large. Enfact, she was a lot like a high-schooler. She had scratches under her left eye, and a tiny bruise on her arm. That was all though. Cristy, however, was bloody from the nose up. Her face was like a bad orange, or an apple for that matter. I couldn't help but to smile. It was just really funny. Seeing pre-teens fight was like watching amateur golf, or something.
I ripped through the roaring crowd that was before me, and found myself in the middle of a head-locking from the other girl to Cristy. I snatched one up by the collar and the other by the sleeve of their arm. They continued to try to swing on each other, but I was a tad bit tougher then they thought. I used my "bulging" muscles to separate them.
"You say something about my brother again, and I'll make sure that you're next year here is a living hell! (I don't know what curse words are allowed! LOL)". The buff girl sprayed out in her thick New York Accent.
"It's not my fault he's the way he is! He looks kind-of stupid with that helmet on!" Cristy yelled back. She yelled just loud enough for the whole crowd to hear, and make noises.
"He's mentally Challenged! Just because nobody at your house is smart enough to see that you are, doesn't mean you gotta make fun of someone else's mind!" She fussed out, "If I knew that you liked the helmet sooooo much, I would have bought you one myself!"
Commotion rang all across the room. I was even laughing. Cristy boiled, charging at the muscular girl, again. I had to work my magic once more, separating them.
"Damn-it! Where is the administrator when you need one?" I spat out, almost tackling myself on the floor with them. This just wasn't my day at all.
All in a sudden, bright, irritating whistles scream through the hall way.
"Finally!"
The principle, and an officer set me free from holding down the fight to handle it themselves. The two girls were pinned to the ground and carried away like prisoners. Administrators came rushing in the hallways to clear all students, sending them back to class.
"Nothing to see here folks! Go back to class! You've got three minutes for else whoever is out in the halls will be suspended!" Dr. Lee shouted out on her mega phone.
I headed back to my room, where the first sight to see was a flying paper ball. I closed my door tight.
"Alright, Class! get back in your seats, open your books!" I bent over to pick up thrown paper, "Seriously guys? Is there a reason for all this trash--"
I was so rudely cut off when I witnessed several of my students gathered around my desk.
"Hey! get off my computer!" I shouted, practically leaping to my desk, "Get away from my desk! Are you guys crazy!?" I fussed more, hitting arms and tops of heads, forcing my students away. "SIT DOWN!" I shouted out, still toppled over the desk and computer.
Everyone scrambled to there seats, smiling and laughing at whatever was on my screen. I sat down in my desk and turned the computer off. Greg and his little 6th grader friends were slighly laughing. I flipped some hair out of my face with an aggravating sigh.
"What are you noodles laughing at!?" I demanded to know.
Greg laughed out loud, causing an uproar of laughter after him, "Whose...@Playfullfrogyoga_master...!!" He laughed out.
I couldn't hold my embarrassment. I instantly grabbed onto the computer, holding it for dear life.
"You read my twitter account??" I was turning colors by now. Greg and all the others nodded with more laughter. I gave off a weak smile, fake to the bone. I knew I was never gonna hear the end of this.

Middle School! Three years of unmerciful hell for students and teachers alike. I went to Jr. High School, and let me tell you this: As I slide down the bannister of Life, I will always remember Radcliff Jr. High School as a splinter in my ass!

The day had ended in peace. All students were gone and out my hair for once. All teachers were still in this building however, but I couldn't complain about the pleasant solitude I was feeling at this moment. I stood by my window that revealed the school driveway and a small apple tree the 8th graders from last year planted. No apples grew from it, though. It remained a figure, naked, with no fruit attached.
(Buh-Bing)
My computer called me. I was receiving a video from across the water.
When I sat down, the computer greeted me with swirls of blues that formed into "Welcome back . I logged in, and soon popped the video I've been waiting for, for two whole days.
A recording of windy breezes, blowing sand everywhere, was first seen, then the bad camera man swirled toward the Military base behind him, showing his face with a bright smile and jovial waves.
" Hey Shelby! This is your big brother....here...in Afghanistan!! I hope you get this video soon!"
Tears almost came to my eyes when I saw him. He looked so proud and happy, with his camouflage uniform and MIB sunglasses.
"Do you remember this place?" He moved the camera toward the exit of the base, "We grew-up here! It's not the same as it was then, but It brings back memories, you know? Wind blew in his face, and he squinted, "It's really hard not being able to talk to you, or see your face. I know dad has the lucky hand cause he gets to see you all the time, but don't worry! I'll be home for the holidays!"
I placed my palms under my chin, gazing at the screen. He pointed around some-more, showing where he worked, and where he slept and ate. He pointed at the tanks, explaining how they don't use them as much as they did back in 2003. He then looked back at the camera and smiled.
" I miss you. I can't wait to hug you and Ma! When I get there, though, I'm expecting a really nice Christmas gift! Preferably some better sunglass, but anything would do." He laughed, " I love you, Shelbs."
My heart just wanted to fly into the screen, just so he could hear me, so that I could hug him once. "Bye Kido!" He waved. I did it back, even though he couldn't see me.
I let down the screen and whipped my eyes. I smiled, but only wanted to burst into tears. I haven't seen him in over eight years, and have been waiting way to long just to see him. He was coming Christmas eve, just one month away. He was staying just three weeks, but three is better than nothing at all.
I got a soft knock on my door. My eyes jetted to it, swiftly blinking whatever tears were in my eyes.
"Hey, Shelby. Just checkin in on you. You okay?"
I was relieved. It was only my co-worker/ good friend, Jenna. Mrs. Foster to be correct.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just saw a video from David." I answered, simply.
"Oh! How is he? You did say you were waiting on a video. I'm glad you finally got it."
I nodded, "Yeah, me too. I was going crazy for a sec."
She stayed by the door, "Its fine though. I remember when my husband was in Iraq. It was hard not being with him, so I know how you feel. At least David is doing well. And he's coming home soon."
I smiled, so relieved that he was. I don't know what I would have done if He had gotten hurt. Jenna pauses for a sec, thinking to herself. She hated staying on depressing subjects, so thank God for that. No dwelling on her part.
She snapped her finger after she thought of something she had been burning to ask me.
"Did you accept that offer about working in Nevada for a semester? You know, the one where Yolkster Jr. High was recommending you--"
"Yeah I looked at it. I don't think so." I shook.
"Why not? Could be something good. You’ve never taught in the west before!" She pressured.
"Jenna, that's all the way in Nevada. I'm currently in NY!"
"So...." She slurred.
"So.....I--I don't even know where in Nevada! I mean, isn't it really hot?" I made excuses.
"I don't know about the weather over there." She complained.
"And it's where-abouts??" I added.
"It’s probably in Reno. You know, not exactly sin city, but very close."
I was even more sure, "I don't think so. Besides, David is coming home soon. That’s an added plane ticket on his part."
Jenna waved it off, "Oh whatever! It might do him some good, considering the fact that the man probably hasn't had a good time since he left."
My mind was crossing, "I-- I don't know. This decision only gives me one week to get ready. If I accepted the offer now, I would need to find some place to stay, pack my bags for a whole semester's worth....and prepare for Christmas!"
"So.....what’s the bad news?" She questioned, seriously, "Is if FairBourne Middle School (current job now) is going to miss, Ms. Caine, the only world history teacher here. News flash, they start world history in high-school.".
Jenna walked out, crossed at the arms with a spine chilling expression. Her words had a disappointing 'good point' to them. NY was just a crowded place, filled with anger and rush. I don't know what Nevada was like, but the offer was even more tempting. The question was, did I has the guts to try to move in one week’s worth of time? Cold land, to sand land in only five days.
My temples were throbbing, " I don't know.".
I packed up for the day, and left. My Honda was sitting in the cold, ready to be driven. I got on the busy road, getting calls from Mom, dad and friends. I was supposed to go to a house party tonight at my folk's, but my mind was leaning more toward a hot bath and E! News.

Sorry its not spaced right. My computer acts weird sometimes!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I snuggled by the fire with my bowl for a coffee mug, steaming in my hand. I had already taken my bath, and decided not to go to the party….an hour after I was still soaking in the ginormous bubbles. The sun was gone, and winter never felt so cold. I tied my slightly wet hair in a loose pony-tail, burring underneath my wooly blanket. My SpongeBob house-shoes sat toppled on each other by the fire. E! News was on. I had already missed the first thirty minutes from my bath.
“Hot topic today, The Lion King will be replaying in theaters, releasing its newer, more enhanced version. Only for a limited time, you’ll get to watch the world’s most beloved Disney movie on the big screen.”
I took another sip of my coffee. French Vanilla swirled around me for that short moment.
“In other news, Magician Criss Angel has made some major changes in his hit Las Vegas show, Believe. He has cut all Cirque acts from his show to focus more on the magic aspects of the show. It is after all, a magic show.”
My face bulged a tad, “I know who that is.” , I mumbled within the coffee. “I used to watch his show.” I reminisced on the past, bringing back those times I had sat down for hours, just watching a TV marathon of his stuff. I couldn’t put a finger on the name of his show, however. I couldn’t remember. It was back in 2007. “Wow….interesting.” I shrugged and continued to watch more.
My cell sprang into song on my coffee table when I was getting a call.
Ringing: Foxy lady by Jimi Hendrix.
I reached to get it, reading the ID number attached. It was Jamie, the best Friend everyone wished they had. Not only was he mine, But I’ve known him since we were both ten years old. He’s also very much into men.
I answered, almost cheery.
Jamie: “Hey, Girl Hey!”
He greeted with the same greet he’s been going for years. I couldn’t help but laugh a little.
Me: “What is it this time? You upset that I didn’t show up for the party?”
Jamie: “Of course not. I just figured you were doing something non- revolving around crowds. You have been, enfact, very anti-social lately.”
I smiled with annoyance.
Me: “That’s because I’ve been dealing with no-good middle schoolers.” I said matter-of-factly.
Jamie: “You’re the one who wanted that job. “
Me: “My original plan was High-school.”
Jamie: “Yeah, you would have definitely been great at that”, He stated sarcastically, “Considering how dry you can be sometimes. You haven’t changed since we were in high-school. You just need to loosen up.”
I was slightly insulted.
Me: “I’m not dry. I’m….loose.”
Jamie: “You need a man!” He bursted.
Me: “I do not need a man.” I said sternly.
Jamie: “You need to drink…or something! Go out on a date.”
Me: “Thank you!” I rolled my eyes over.
Jamie: “I’m just saying! Take that Nevada job, visit Las Vegas. Surrender to you pleasures and take life in by the neck….” He paused
Me: “…What?” I questioned the silence.
Jamie: “I just said something ‘poem worthy!”
Poem worthy was his thing. Whenever he would say something clever or ‘beautiful’, he would write whatever it was in a notepad, he called ‘The Poem worthy book.’
Me: “Oh my God. Whatever Jamie!” I exclaimed into the phone.
Jamie: “I’m sorry. It’s not everyday I have those moments.”
Me: “Yes you do, you’re just so narrow minded to the point where you can’t remember.”
A rustling noise came across the phone. My eyes shifted into rolling mode again once I figured what it was. My eyes then clicked back to the TV screen, where they were still broad casting Criss Angel. My eyes almost stayed locked onto the news until I began to hear crunching noises on Jamie’s side.
Me: “Could you eat the chips quieter?” I budded.
He continued to smack more.
Jamie: “Only if you can guess what flavor.”
Me: “You’re favorite.”
Jamie: “Which is?”
I smacked my teeth. Me: “Doritos.”
Jamie: “Eww. No! They smell like feet to me.”
I stared at the TV screen more, getting a tad side-tracked from the popular news. I then listen back to Jamie’s crunching.
Me: “Jamie?”
Jamie: “Hmmmm?” He dragged.
Me: “You’ve heard of Criss Angel, right?”
Jamie: “A little. He’s that magician that showed on the Oprah show.”
Me: “Yeah. Him.”
More crunching. Jamie: “What about him?”
Me: “He’s on E! News. “
Jamie: “That man is always somewhere.”
Me: “Whatcha mean by that?”
Jamie choked slightly, loudly coughing into the phone.
Jamie: “Xuse me!” He cleared his throat, “I mean…that guy’s been mauled by the press. He’s been seen with this woman, with that woman. Lohan, Spears, Hilton. You name it, girl.”
Me: “Really? Wow. Again, I say it’s interesting.”
Jamie: “Well, celebs make life more entertaining. It would be boring without them.”
Me: “Yeah.” I checked my watched, yawning a long ten seconds, “Well, I’m going to hit the hay in a little while.”
Jamie: “Ok. But, you know you still never told me what flavor chips I was eating.”
Me: “What does it matter now? The chips are gone.” I laughed.
Jamie: “Very true.”
There was a pause. I sighed hard before laughing.
Me: “Lays BBQ?”
Jamie: “Thank you. I was waiting on that.”
I smiled, then hung up. I turned up the TV’s volume more and snuggled back into my blanket and coffee.
Five minutes after sitting on that warm couch, My eyes were becoming droopy. I yawned about sixty times before the sleepy took over. My comfort let me forget all of my troubles of that day, or my future decisions. It was just nice enjoying some well earned ‘me time’. Who knows when I would get another one of these.

I had packed my bags for only two weeks stay in Vegas. I was taking the job offer ONLY if I liked what I was getting into. Thanks to Jamie, my trip would not be taken in vein. He happily packed my stuff himself, throwing in God knows what inside the case.
“What time is your flight?” Jamie asked, flopping his skinny body on my bed.
“Noon. Three and a-half hours of coach seats and peanuts.” I couldn’t help but laugh. I stuffed my glasses in my purse. Jamie searched my hands and movements with a ‘look’.
“Where’s the lipstick and stuff?” He paused. I glanced at him, “ Don’t tell me all you got in that bag is tissue and glasses? Not even sunglasses?”
“I don’t have a need for that stuff. I’m just going there to teach.” I fussed.
“Not for two weeks! You’re not going there to do anything yet. You got time to party!”
I slammed my Anne Rice novels into my bag, “I don’t even own lip stick. Who wears lipstick!? I only have lip-gloss, and mascara, an--and…..”, He shot me a look, “What?”
He cracked a small smile, “You just betta wear the stuff. I don’t wanna hear from you some days later talkin about, ‘I just didn’t feel comfortable about going out’, you know?”
“Whatever.”
He started playing with my pillows. I walked to my bathroom mirror, and combed back my brown hair.
“Who do you think I’ll meet in Nevada?”
“Girl, I don’t know! Whoever you wanna meet, I guess. Just don’t be afraid to be aggressive. If you’re gonna talk to someone….talk to them.”
When I got to the Airport, my gut wasn’t handling the ‘soon plane ride’, to well. My debate on whether to go was really ticking in my head. I might have been taking this trip a little too fast. I mean, I had gotten the plane ticket yesterday. A sub-teacher for two-weeks was more than enough of a rush. Not to mention that nobody knows I’m leaving besides from Jamie. Talk about pay-cut.
“Gimmie a hug, Honey.” Jamie reached out. I squeezed him, with a nervous look attached to me. “Everything will be ok. Take a couple of shots, drink lots of coffee, and go bankrupt at the dollar slots at the Excalibur.”
I play punched his gut, “I’m not that wild.”
“We’ll you need to be, girl.”
I grabbed my free bags and walked to the terminal. My hair was messy, I was doped on an extra strength Tylenol, and my long gypsy skirt was dragging past my shoes. I should have worn some heels.
“Call me when you get there!” He shouted out to me, “And don’t forget my tee-shirt, my shot glass….and don’t forget to get me some lip-gloss! Name brand!” He waved. I did it back, only too nervous to turn around, “AND pull your Sunglasses down! Your eyes look like hell!”
Next stop, Nevada.
